Who are we?
The Villa Abel Foundation is a small-scale, professional organization that offers guidance to students with autism in higher education. Villa Abel works on the basis of the Autism Central methodology. The initiator and founder, Anne van der Horst, is currently responsible for the day-to-day management of the foundation. For the board we are looking for a new team of at least 3 members.
Villa Abel started in Leiden in 2016 and now also has a branch in Rotterdam. Villa Abel supervises approximately 90 students and offers individual and group supervision.
Who are we looking for?
The new members would ideally have
· general competences of supervisors;
· has experience and knowledge of the healthcare sector and of broad social developments;
· has a modern vision of the developments in the healthcare sector and can interpret the developments and translate them into consequences for the Villa Abel Foundation;
· a vision and action that puts the quality of care and service to the student first;
has an affinity with the objective, mission and core values of Villa Abel;
· knows how to achieve the right balance between involvement and administrative distance;
· has the ability and attitude to assist the director with advice and as a sounding board and to test the policy of the foundation and the functioning of the director;
· has the ability to exercise advice and supervision in a team;
· is able to contribute to the board in an inspiring way, aimed at cooperation and connection, and to make critical comments while maintaining the relationship;
· has a sense of responsibility and an independent attitude;
· has insight into the requirements of quality, efficiency and continuity for an organization such as Villa Abel;
· is a strategic thinker with analytical insight;
What else is important:
To complete the board, we are looking for people who go a little further where the others stop. People who can ask the sharp questions without losing connection.
Preference is given to people who are still active in their careers.
It is relevant to be completely unattached and independent. It goes without saying that there can be no substantive and/or personal conflict of interest.
The board meets 3 to 6 times a year, usually in Leiden or online.
The position of director is, in the context of the ANBI status of the foundation, unpaid.
Procedure
From the applications, a choice will be made to conduct an individual interview with a number of candidates. After this, a meeting will take place to explore with each other whether there is good cooperation and which roles everyone can / wants to play.
