About Rijksmuseum Muiderslot

Tough and stubborn. That is the Muiderslot. In addition to a rich past and a lively place in the present, we also like to look to the future. The ambition in a nutshell: having an impact and connecting.

The Muiderslot was built in 1285 and has been a national museum since 1878. The assignment is to manage, preserve and open the castle, collection and gardens to the public. The Muiderslot is a place where there is much to do, to discover and to enjoy for a wide audience from home and abroad. But…. we want more! We are proud that we are a national museum: everyone's for everyone. This means that we have something to offer for different people and develop projects together with many different people. It also means getting off the beaten track.
