The Maatjesproject is looking for volunteers for participants of 24 years and much older.
Detailed description
Are you social, do you have patience and a listening ear? Do you enjoy taking someone for a walk, going to the movies, cooking together, going to the market, sitting on a terrace, playing a game, having a chat, drinking tea? Then you are at the right place at the Maatjesproject.
As a buddy you accompany a participant for a year, 1x per week / 1x per 2 weeks. Usually it is about 1 1/2 hours. It concerns participants of very different ages with actually always special life stories, who feel lonely and find it difficult to establish or maintain social contacts themselves. Sometimes we can offer social activation, sometimes we are the social environment.
When you start with us, you will receive an introductory course, intervision, you will be guided by one of our program counselors and there is a volunteer outing twice a year.
