Summary

As treasurer at DBWN you are part of a collegial functioning board, which is responsible for policy and implementation. You need accounting experience, prepare financial documents, strive for a financially healthy situation and monitor progress.

Detailed description

Who are we
The Don Bosco Werken Nederland Foundation (DBWN) is a partnership of independent youth and youth works, which work according to the Pedagogic Preventive Approach (PPA) of Don Bosco, an Italian priest who lived in the nineteenth century. His objective was prevention; he wanted to prevent young people in Turin from ending up in prison among the hardened criminals. Don Bosco's vision of education still fits in perfectly with today's multicultural society. Currently, eight youth and youth works are affiliated with DBWN through a covenant, but they function as independent and independent foundations.

Our vision
  • > DBWN gives young people the opportunity to grow up in freedom, responsibility, connectedness and meaning.
  • > DBWN strengthens and expands knowledge and application of the Preventive Pedagogical Approach (PPA) in youth and youth work in the Netherlands.
  • > DBWN inspires, stimulates and connects youth and youth workers and policy makers of the foundations affiliated with us, so that they can work enthusiastically and well equipped according to the PPA.
  • > DBWN continues to work on a recognizable and valued quality mark in youth and youth work in the Netherlands.

The function
As treasurer you are part of a collegial functioning board, which as a whole is responsible for the policy of DBWN and its implementation. The entire board consists of the chairman, the secretary, the treasurer and two board members. All board positions are volunteer positions. DBWN also employs three staff members; one staff member supports the board in its daily activities, the other two staff members are responsible for the communication and training task areas. Regular board meetings are held on average ten times a year. In addition, there are twice a year meetings with the Provincial Council (Salesians of Don Bosco), twice a year with the Council of Works (board members of the affiliated youth and youth works) and twice a year with the Financial Committee.

The ideal candidate
>is familiar (or willing to become acquainted) with Don Bosco's approach, his preventive pedagogical method and convinced of the added value that this approach has for youth and young people;
  • > is a good director and makes a positive contribution to the content, process and atmosphere of board meetings;
  • > has 4-10 hours per month available for preparing and participating in meetings and interim consultations with board members, employees and others;
  • > has the following qualities and characteristics: progress control, vision, persuasiveness, judgment, cooperation and flexibility;
  • > strives for a financially healthy situation and ensures that subsidy applications are awarded funding and monitors whether the conditions set are complied with;
  • > ensures the preparation of the financial documents and the financial paragraphs in policy documents;
  • > has good accounting knowledge and experience and has experience in digitally recording financial administrative processes and the control thereof;
  • > can express themselves well in Dutch, both verbally and in writing.
What do we offer
  • a pleasant collaboration with an energetic board and a close-knit self-organizing team of board members and staff members;
  • the opportunity to think along and participate in decisions about the application of Don Bosco's Preventive Pedagogical Approach, which gives young people the opportunity to grow up in a safe and conscious existence;
  • our inspiring location in Assel, in the middle of the Hoge Veluwe and surrounded by nature;
  • a broad network in youth and youth work, both in the Netherlands and Flanders;
  • travel allowance of 19 cents per kilometer;
  • expense allowance of 30 euros per month.
