Summary

Assel Don Bosco Centrum is a volunteer organization where young people can come home, develop themselves and look for the meaning of life together.

Detailed description

Assel Don Bosco Centrum is located in the middle of the beautiful nature reserve of the Veluwe. This accommodation has several buildings, outdoor play areas, sleeping quarters and a meditation forest. In this way we primarily offer young people space for reflection, education and relaxation, but we also receive groups of adults who are looking for a place for training and consultation, for example.

Our mission

Assel Don Bosco Centrum wants to be a place where young people can come home, develop themselves and look for the meaning of life together. We focus primarily on youth organizations from home and abroad who work according to the ideas of Don Bosco, a priest who lived in the 19th century.

These organizations encourage young people to develop further through Don Bosco's Preventive Pedagogical Style with four educational goals: freedom, responsibility, connectedness and meaning. They do this by offering active and creative programs or better still by offering a program framework that the young people fill in themselves. Giving as much personal responsibility as possible, of course adapted to age and (acquired) skills, is an important facet of stimulation. In this way, young people see that they are trusted.

To support this youth work, we are an accessible accommodation and we keep our rental price for these groups as low as possible. That is why Assel Don Bosco Center runs entirely on volunteers and we ask volunteers to think about what other function Assel Don Bosco Center can have for young people.

Do you prefer working in the background as a volunteer and do you have the necessary technical or green skills? You are also very welcome to join our volunteers! Everyone was equally welcome at Giovanni 'don' Bosco and that also applies to Assel Don Bosco Centrum. We strive for a diverse group of employees/volunteers.

Does our mission appeal to you?

Assel Don Bosco Center is looking for new volunteers to join the team!

Technical people

Are you technically skilled? Then sign up for the technical service that takes care of the maintenance of our buildings.

People with green fingers

Do you have an affinity with greenery and outdoor areas? Then sign up for the green group, which takes care of the maintenance of the outdoor area.

Host hostess

Do you share our opinion that Assel Don Bosco Centrum should be a place where everyone feels welcome and where you are 'at home'? Then the role of host/hostess might be something for you. You supervise groups that use an accommodation, among other things by ensuring a hospitable reception. You are the point of contact for the group during your stay and you will depart at the end of a rental period, during which it will be checked whether everything has been left in good condition.

Activity guides

Do you find it fun and challenging to be involved in training, to develop activities and also to carry out these activities with groups that are guests at the center? You are also very welcome in our team of volunteers. Activity counselors develop training activities for young people, which are aimed at formation, reflection, development and encounters.

Our organization

Assel Don Bosco Centrum has a board that consists of a maximum of five people. We also have a large number of volunteers who are committed to the Assel Don Bosco Center. On the site of the 'Mariahoeve' there is a community of the Salesians of Don Bosco with whom the volunteers of Assel Don Bosco Center work closely together. On behalf of the Salesians, we manage and rent out three accommodations, where you can also spend the night: the Kampschuur, the Villa and the Piramide. The fourth accommodation (the Stable) can be used as an activity room, it is not possible to spend the night here. Assel Don Bosco Centrum has four coordinators: a general coordinator, a coordinator for the hosts and hostesses, a coordinator for technical matters and a coordinator for reservations. These coordinators act as 'Primus Inter Paris' (PIP). They support the volunteers, solve bottlenecks together with the volunteers and, where necessary, involve the board for consultation and decision-making.

Finally

· Assel Don Bosco Center works with a volunteer contract.

· We ask the volunteer for a 'Statement of Behavior'. Costs are for the account of Assel Don Bosco Centrum.

· New volunteers first have a meeting with one of the coordinators and a board member, after which the parties indicate whether they want to continue working together.
