You are responsible for the distribution point location in the municipality of Wageningen.
Essentially, you have the same tasks as the rest of the volunteer team on location and therefore perform the same duties. In addition, your role involves a number of extra responsibilities. Together with the local team of volunteers, you ensure the smooth running of your location before, during, and after the distribution moment. You manage the key to the location and, together with the team, handle inventory management.
You manage the local team of volunteers, motivate them where necessary, and ensure a good atmosphere. You are the link and the first point of contact for the board, coordinators, and the local volunteer team. The coordinator assigned to your location is your primary point of contact.
Together with all volunteers on the location team, you are responsible for:
- You are the point of contact for our customers during the bi-weekly distribution moment. These can be existing customers coming to pick up items, as well as new customers whom you register on-site and explain our procedures to;
- You are the point of contact for donors dropping off items during the drop-off time. You take a photo of the donation and share it via your location's group chat;
- You take care of repacking the feed and ensure that there is always sufficient repacked feed in stock;
- You keep records of who has and hasn't been, and what the customers took with them;
- You are available at the issuance times for the relevant municipality;
- Together with the team, you ensure a neat appearance of the dispensing point. You discuss any defects or issues with the coordinator;
- It regularly happens that donations may be collected in the region; you organize this among yourselves with the team;
- You attend the venue managers' meeting, the general meeting, activities, and events as much as possible.
As a location manager, you also have the following additional responsibilities:
- You manage the local team of volunteers, ensuring that the above duties are rotated regularly and that everyone, including yourself, can perform all tasks. It is your responsibility to ensure that the team can continue operating during distribution even if you are absent on occasion;
- You manage the key to the location, and in your absence, you ensure that another volunteer temporarily takes over;
- You train new volunteers and ensure that they learn all the tasks and are aware of the agreements made;
- If a volunteer is unable to come during the distribution time, try to arrange a volunteer from another location if necessary. If that is not possible, inform the coordinator;
- Monitoring agreed working methods and decisions, and addressing the team if this does not happen;
- For the semi-annual cash audit, it is your responsibility to ensure that the necessary materials are submitted to the treasurer upon request;
- Identifying new developments at the location and discussing them with the coordinator so that action can be taken where necessary.
We are looking for:
- Someone who identifies with and acts according to our core values: Reliable, helpful, and committed;
- A motivating and connecting personality, who can lead his/her team but also dares to take a step back and empower the team (allowing them to make their own decisions and show initiative);
- Someone with guts, who is confident and dares to engage in discussions when necessary, both internally within our foundation and externally with our clients;
- Someone with a heart for animal welfare;
- Someone with flexible availability and broad applicability (all in consultation);
- Someone for a longer period (at least 6 months);
- Someone with a lot of passion and hands-on commitment.
What do we offer you?
- A wonderful and rewarding volunteer position at a cool foundation with committed volunteers;
- Annual outings, gifts, and gatherings;
- Through the Dierenlot Academy and other volunteer organizations, you can take interesting courses and training for free;
- You are collectively insured through the municipality.

About Stichting Dierenvoedselbank Vallei & Veluwe
Animal Food Bank Vallei en Veluwe is a charity that has been committed to helping people in that region who live below the poverty line with their pet(s) since 2016, and who are therefore unable to fully feed and care for their pet(s). A group that often lives in social isolation and for whom the pet is of great emotional value.
We provide additional pet food and pet supplies so that owners can keep and care for their pet responsibly. In addition, we help our customers with advice, information and education, and we mediate where necessary.
With a helpful, reliable and committed team of volunteers, we work regionally from our distribution locations in Wageningen, Ede, Renkum, Rhenen and Veenendaal. As a result, more than 500 times a separation for financial reasons between owner and pet has been prevented in recent years. Animal Food Bank Vallei en Veluwe is not for profit, but does have ANBI status.
