WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

In eleven recording studios, Grave reads books, newspapers and magazines by more than 100 voluntary and professional readers. As an audio technician you receive volunteers and help them with technical and sometimes also with substantive questions. You are also involved in the technical checking of productions. You are the first point of contact in the event of malfunctions during recording and we look forward to your fresh perspective to improve our audio-technical processes (working method).

You work at least one part of a day in succession (morning, afternoon or evening). You assist the recording technician with all common work activities and you can replace him in case of absence due to holidays or illness.

WHERE AND WHEN DO YOU GET STARTED?

The days on which you can get started in our studios in Grave are:

  • Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. for the guidance of readers of newspapers and magazines;
  • Monday to Thursday evening from 6:00 pm to 9:15 pm;
  • Saturday morning between 8:30 AM and 2:00 PM to guide book readers.

WHAT DO WE ASK FROM YOU?

  • You are 17-30 years old.
  • You have a completed audio training.
  • You have knowledge and experience with digital audio editing and file formats.
  • You have experience with analogue and digital mixing panels.
  • You know a lot about recording software, acoustics and cabling, including Microsoft OS.
  • Knowledge of Hindenburg audio software is an advantage.
  • You are stress resistant.
  • You think and act in solutions.
  • You can transfer your technical knowledge in 'jip-and-janneketaal' to others.
  • You have feeling and patience.
  • You have excellent social and communication skills.

WHAT DO YOU GET IN RETURN?

  • You receive training on how to use all buttons and programs in the studio.
  • You gain new knowledge and work experience.
  • You get a peek into the kitchen in our recording studios.
  • You experience what it is like to participate in a well-oiled planning.
  • You work together with coaches and other volunteers.
  • You will receive a recognized certificate on request if you work for at least 50 hours.
  • You will receive a travel allowance if you do not have a student public transport pass.
  • And of course the nice feeling that because of your effort someone with a visual or other reading disability can simply enjoy a book.

HOW DOES THE INTRODUCTION TRAVEL LOOK?

  • You have an appointment with the voice coaches to learn what is important when reading aloud. You read the reading manual that you receive thoroughly and use it as a reference: 2 hours.
  • You learn in a separate appointment from the recording technician with which programs we work and you then practice independently: 1 part of the day
  • You walk with the recording technician to watch 'the art': 2 days.

Getting there

About Stichting Dedicon
