The Hoorn cheese market dates back to around 1500. We revive this market in the summer months. We are always looking for new colleagues. Cheese carriers, for example. Who would have thought that it could ever be. Here is your chance, young and old are welcome. And both men and women, Dutch and fellow nationals. These cheese markets are every year from week 25 to week 35 on Tuesday afternoons (from noon to 4 pm). And afterwards cozy and free after-dinner on a terrace on the Roode Steen.

A cheese father, cheese carriers, cheese setters, traders, farmers, cheese girls and the wagon masters with horse and cart participate in this special and musical theater game. And also a performance by a West Frisian dance group with traditional old Dutch dances with live music.
