The Codeclub Apeldoorn Foundation aims to guide children in groups 6 and 7 in learning to code (programming) at all primary schools in Apeldoorn.

Would you like to help the children of primary schools in Apeldoorn learn the basics of coding together with our other volunteers? Then sign up.

Activities

Volunteers guide the children during these lessons, each time in a series of 5 lessons that are planned in a number of consecutive weeks. They ensure that the laptops with the teaching modules are ready, are a source of information for the children and also tidy up everything. In addition to the volunteers, 2 or 3 per class, the teacher is also present.

What are we doing

The Codeclub Apeldoorn Foundation aims to guide children in groups 6 and 7 in learning to code at all primary schools in Apeldoorn.

By learning the basics of coding, young people develop skills that will come in handy later. Stimulated by the possibilities of IT, there are still enormous developments ahead. Developments that also ensure that everyone has to deal with IT to a greater or lesser extent. It is useful to develop skills for this at a young age

Codeclub Apeldoorn uses playful open source software called Scratch. About 5 modules from the Scratch program are offered in 5 lesson blocks of 1 hour during school hours. The student can continue with the modules at home. They are freely available on the internet.

What can you expect?

Experience is not required, you will receive a half-day training beforehand. The teaching material is not difficult. It is important that you have completed at least Scratch 1 yourself prior to the coding lessons.
