Information center 't Leesten is looking for educational volunteers

Making seed bombs, building nesting boxes, looking for aquatic animals…

At Information Center 't Leesten we organize fun activities all year round that are supervised by enthusiastic volunteers, but our education team could use some reinforcement!

So: do you enjoy curious children and do you like to show them around in nature? Then we might be looking for you!

Nature reserve Het Leesten is a special and varied area on the Veluwe with space for activities and recreation. In addition to Brasserie 't Leesten, the Bospaviljoen also houses an Information Centre of Staatsbosbeheer. Here, our volunteers give tips for young and old about the most beautiful routes, interesting nature books and surprising souvenirs.

But with equal pleasure they dive into the Bospoel with young visitors, looking for aquatic animals. And then together they look at the catch under a microscope: small becomes big!

Or they will make seed bombs, build nest boxes, search for game tracks. There is a hut building competition, the Light Walk in December and this year also the Tree to Forest day with, you guessed it, the tree in the leading role!

Tinkering, crafting, discovering and experiencing. There is something for everyone.

Are you getting excited yet?

Great. Because we already have a varied program, but there is always room for your own input! And we could use some extra hands for that.

What are you going to do:

- You prepare the activity together with your colleague(s) and set everything up.

- You are responsible for the materials and resources.

- You supervise activities in or around the Information Center.

- You welcome the children (and their supervisors) and explain the activity.

- You explain the importance of the natural aspects related to the activity.

- Afterwards, you clean everything up again.

- You think along with the education team about new activities.

You:

- Are you enthusiastic, handy and a go-getter

- Works well in a team.

- Have an affinity and/or experience with supervising children aged 6 to 12.

- Are you a people person who loves nature.

- Can handle crowds well and can speak easily in front of a group.

- Are you willing to help out regularly for a day, especially in the months of May to October during the holidays.

- Can provide a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG).
