We are looking for volunteers who want to help children of (usually) foreign families learn to read.
We are looking for volunteers who want to help children of (mostly) foreign families with homework.
Job description:
You visit the family once a week to support the children with homework. If necessary, you will contact the teacher to discuss what needs to be done. Of course it is also nice to have a cup of tea with the mother and the children and have a chat. Many of the families like to receive information about how things are going in the Netherlands.
Job requirements:
Sociable, warm personality who would like to help a family move forward and is open to other cultures. A good basic knowledge of the Dutch language is necessary and in this time of Corona it is also nice if you are a bit handy with online communication (Whatsapp, video calling, etc.).
What do you have to offer the volunteer ?:
You will be guided by the coordinators, follow the training for new volunteers, and you can participate in peer meetings where you share experiences with the other volunteers. You can participate in all kinds of free training and volunteer courses !.
What makes the work worthwhile ?:
You help people and you get energy from it. You come into contact with other cultures and can really mean something for a family.
Working time:
To be agreed with each other, often 1 to 2 hours a week
