Do you enjoy providing educational activities, do you have some time available during the week and would you like to contribute to a social organization? Then we are looking for you!
The education team of the North and East Gelderland district covers the area between Winterswijk and Harderwijk. Our team works closely with education volunteers from the districts of IJsselland, Twente and Utrecht. Our goal is to increase respect, self-reliance and willingness to help among as many young people as possible.
Our team has room for guest teachers/game leaders who enjoy working with other volunteers at secondary and intermediate vocational schools. The Red Cross has developed the following teaching programs for this target group:
· Guest lecture “Hero of Humanity”: Do you help or do you not help? Students use their phones to voice out videos with recognizable situations. You engage in discussions and motivate participants to actively think about different themes.
· “The Humanity Game”. The class competes in three teams to see who provides the best emergency aid based on four emergency situations after a major disaster. The team that makes the best choices and answers the most knowledge questions correctly wins the game.
What are you going to do?
· You provide at least 6-8 lessons and/or games per year in the North and East Gelderland region.
· You prepare the lesson independently and deliver it together with a fellow volunteer.
Who are you?
· You enjoy standing in front of a group (teaching experience is an advantage).
· You have an affinity with the target group (pupils/students aged 12-23).
· You are regularly available during school hours.
· You are digitally skilled; Online teaching materials are used in the lessons.
· You endorse the seven basic principles of the Red Cross.
What can you expect from us?
To familiarize yourself with the teaching material and our ideas, you first follow several online modules and one or more training courses at a location in the region. In addition to the lesson content, attention is also paid to didactics.
