Detailed description

Reading to Kids organizes monthly reading clubs on the second Saturday of every month at eight downtown Los Angeles elementary schools. The reading clubs run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Pairs of volunteer readers read aloud to small groups of students from the elementary school (typically between 4 and 6 children per group) in a fun environment. Teachers at the elementary school provide supervision and guidance throughout the morning.

Volunteers must be 18 or older to volunteer with Reading to Kids.


Volunteers for our reading clubs must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and mask is highly encouraged while indoors on campus for the reading clubs. The kids will also be required to wear masks while indoors.

Getting there

This opportunity services eight Los Angeles Unified School District elementary schools in the Pico-Union/Westlake neighborhoods near downtown LA. Choose your school when you RSVP at their website. Schools location and map available at readingtokids dot org
