Detailed description

Reading to Kids organizes monthly reading clubs on the second Saturday of every month at eight downtown Los Angeles elementary schools. The reading clubs run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Pairs of volunteer readers read aloud to small groups of students from elementary school (typically between 4 and 6 children per group) in a fun environment. Teachers at the elementary school provide supervision and guidance throughout the morning.

Our next reading clubs will be held on 14 October 2023 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. For exact locations, please visit readingtokids dot org.


Volunteers must be 18 or older to volunteer with Reading to Kids.


Volunteers for our reading clubs must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

8 Elementary Schools in Downtown Los Angeles. This opportunity services eight Los Angeles Unifed School District elementary schools in the Pico-Union/Westlake neighborhoods near downtown LA. Choose your school when you RSVP at their website. Schools location and maps available at readingtokids.org.
