Meet & Walk; walking with a newcomer

Do you want to walk with a newcomer? With someone who lives in a refugee shelter and would love to meet Dutch people, learn the language and discover Apeldoorn?

The residents of the AZC have only been in the Netherlands for a short time and are awaiting their asylum procedure. Meetings with Dutch people helps them to get to know the Netherlands and contributes to their integration.

How does it work? When you register, you will be linked to a resident via Stichting Present. You can contact us by phone or WhatsApp to make an appointment for the walk. You meet at the refugee shelter at Christiaan Geurtsweg 10, or at another place where you can go by bike. During a walk you get to know each other, with each other's culture, you practice with language and you walk along beautiful places in Apeldoorn. The language can be a challenge, but most people speak a fair amount of English. And it's a healthy activity too! If it clicks and you both like to meet up more often, that is of course possible. You decide when and how often you meet.
