Summary
You are made ready to help with the 'pad in de put' project. The workhop by the knowledge institude of amongst others amphibians, RAVON.
Detailed description
The toad is on the move again and could use a helping hand. Will you be the amphib superhero Wageningen needs? 🐸🦸
Do you also enjoy nature and want to give something back? The toad population has been declining in an alarming rate. From February to April large numbers of toads embark on a dangerous journey towards their breeding water. Sometimes the water comes a little too early and they end up in a drain, which they can't get out of on their own. Every year, half a million to one million amphibians end up in drains in the Netherlands, where they die of exhaustion or disappear into the sewer. Time to help the toad from going down the drain!
Do you get energy from saving lives? By checking some drains for amphibians during the amphibian migration, rescuing them, and contributing to research, the Municipality of Wageningen will use the information you gather to install special toad stairs in the biggest pitfalls. This way, you contribute to both long-term and short-term solutions.
Do you want to save the toad from going down the drain? Then come to 📅Monday, January 26th, 8:00 PM (doors open at 7:45 PM) at 📍Het Groene Wiel, Hendrikweg 14b, 6703AW Wageningen. Learn all about how you can become the amphibian superhero Wageningen needs and help the toad from going down the drain!
This workshop is led by Raymond Creemers of RAVON, the knowledge institute for reptiles, amphibians, and fish in the Netherlands.
The "Pad uit de Put" (Toad out of the drain) project is a collaboration between the municipality of Wageningen, the Wageningen toad working group, RAVON, IVN Nature Education, and the Dutch Cultural Landscape Association, and is made possible in part by the Postcodeloterij.
