About Missiemuseum Steyl

The Missie Museum is one of the oldest museums in the Netherlands, with beautiful storylines, located in the monastery village of Steyl. The collection of animals and ethnological objects in the museum has been built up since 1879, when the missionaries of the monastery were sent around the world. Until the year 1934 when Brother Berchmans, the curator of the museum, died and the museum has stood still in time ever since. A true time capsule. The Mission Museum is astonishing, tells the stories of these explorers of the time and thereby establishes links with current affairs.
