As a communications board member/secretary, you and the other five board members ensure that the runners have a great day in February.
Detailed description
Our current board member communications/PR secretary has indicated that he wants to stop after the 2025 edition (the 50th edition of the Midwinter Marathon). To complete the board again, we are looking for an enthusiastic board member. We are already putting out this call so that we have enough time to properly train you.
Ratio of communication/PR activities – secretary: 75 / 25
Duties as secretary:
- You are responsible for reporting on board meetings
- You keep the decision list up to date
- You are the point of contact for the permit (together with the General Coordinator)
- You ensure that the list of guests/relations remains up to date
- You invite guests/relations to the event
Communication tasks – PR:
- You ensure that our website remains up to date
- You create and send digital newsletters to runners
- You manage our social media accounts
- You ensure exposure of our sponsors/partners on communication tools
- You ensure that communication tools such as posters and advertisements are updated
- You are the point of contact for the media

The Midwinter Marathon
The Midwinter Marathon is organized by the Apeldoorn Marathon Foundation. The event is organized entirely by volunteers. Over the years, the event has grown into a three-day running festival with 6 distances and more than 16,000 participants. The 50th edition of this genuine winter classic will be held in 2025. The Midwinter Marathon is the second oldest running event in the Netherlands.
