Zuid Doet Samen and MEE are organizing a series of mini-courses for the residents of Apeldoorn-Zuid in 2022. This mini-course is about communicating effectively with people with disabilities and asking good questions. This is on Wednesday evening, July 6 from (7:00 PM - 9:00 PM).
Every day you meet many people. Among them may also be people with a disability. Perhaps someone from your immediate environment. Because disabilities are not always visible, you do not always recognize them immediately. Knowledge about people with a disability, effective communication and asking good questions can help you to understand the other person better and make contact run more smoothly. Which allows someone with a disability to participate better in society. Because understanding, participating, belonging, using your talents, everyone wants.
Communicating effectively and asking good questions
By asking good questions and listening, you discover someone's real needs and can support them appropriately. You learn to understand the other person better and understand why someone behaves in a certain way. By not only asking about someone's negative experiences or shortcomings, but also about what gives someone pleasure, what he or she is good at, a conversation becomes much more positive. People feel heard and that motivates.
Start from someone's strengths, talents and how they can use this. Beware of wanting to solve something quickly, filling in what the other would like
This mini-course in effective communication and asking good questions consists of an interactive evening meeting with theory and a film. The emphasis is on practical exercises that will give you more insight and teach you what impact communication has. We will practice with your own attitude, positive health and asking good questions. Of course there is also room for your questions.
When: Wednesday evening July 6th from 19:00 – 21:00. Doors open at 18:45.
