Experts by experience are used as a listening ear, fellow sufferers, show that there is a dot on the horizon and provide easily accessible explanations.
Experience experts from MEE themselves have a disease or a disability. They know better than anyone what it is like to have a disability or to live with someone with a disability. This is a wealth of information that they are happy to use to help others. Some are informal carers, others have a disability themselves; for example a form of autism, a congenital brain injury, a mild intellectual disability or psychological problems.
Experts by experience can give vulnerable residents insight into a future perspective, provide an impetus for activation or contribute to the acceptance of the restriction.
