Are you or do you know a nature lover between the ages of 18 and 30 who enjoys teaching children about nature? Then read on!
This fall, IVN Apeldoorn and IVN Gelderland are organizing a new training course for MDT Green Educator, especially for young people in the region around Apeldoorn, Arnhem, Deventer, Lochem, Zutphen. As a Green Educator, you roll up your sleeves and teach outdoor lessons to children from a primary school in your area. Whether you work solo or with a good friend, you ensure that children experience nature in a fun and educational way.
What are you going to do?
This fall, the Green Educators action comes and teaches about the wonders of nature in this season: mushrooms in all their forms, beautifully colored autumn leaves… You take children outside, near school or on the schoolyard, and let them really experience nature. You know how to inspire groups of children and offer them an unforgettable nature experience. Together with other Green Educators, you are an ambassador for the importance of nature lessons!
About the Green Educators
A Green Educator is someone between the ages of 18 and 30 who volunteers during activities such as Outdoor Lesson Day, Tree Planting Day, Ditch Day, or other educational events. You first follow a training, in which you are prepared to give outdoor lessons with confidence and to actively participate in other educational activities. After successful participation, you will receive a certificate and you will be given the opportunity to continue your efforts at local IVN branches or local nature organizations such as a nature center, National Park or petting zoo.
Who are we looking for?
- You are between 18-30 years old.
- You live in Gelderland or Overijssel and are willing to attend two meetings in Apeldoorn.
- You have a passion for nature and love to tell stories, but you don't have to be an expert.
- You are enthusiastic and have an affinity with teaching primary school children.
- You have a green heart and want to contribute to nature education.
What do we offer?
- Extensive training and the opportunity to teach active lessons in nature to children.
- Guidance and collaboration with experienced volunteers.
- Access to a network of other Green Educators in Gelderland.
- A Child & Nature Handbook as a tool.
- A certificate after successful participation.
- Travel expenses for the meetings.
What are we asking?
- Commitment and involvement during training and activities.
- Willingness to attend some fixed moments:
- October 5, 2024: Kick-off meeting in Apeldoorn (afternoon)
- October 24: Online meeting (7:00 PM - 9:00 PM)
- November 18 – 22: Teaching outside, for example during Arbor Day!
- November 23: Final meeting in Apeldoorn (afternoon)
Buddy system:
After registration, we will pair you with a buddy from IVN. We will take your place of residence into account as much as possible. We aim to place you with other Green Educators, so that you can work in pairs, but we cannot give any guarantees in this regard. During the meeting on 5 October, we will provide clarity about this and tell you more about the outdoor lesson and your role in it.
