DO YOU HELP MIGRANTS AND STATUS HOLDERS WITH EMBEDDING?

As a companion you support migrants / refugees with status in finding their way within Dutch society and actively participating in it.

What are you going to do?

- you visit your participant once a week

- you support your participant with his / her support questions,

for example: understanding and dealing with letters, understanding of systems applicable in the Netherlands (education, work, care, etc.),

- possibly go along to appointments as backup / support,

- helping to find and gain insight into facilities in your own living and living environment,

- offering a listening ear.

In short: Together you undertake those activities that match the participant's question and situation so that the participant becomes more self-reliant and gains self-confidence.

Who are we looking for?

- You are interested in people and make contact easily based on equality and respect.

- You show patience and have good communication skills.

- In addition to Dutch, you speak another language such as: English, Arabic, Tigrinya, Farsi or Turkish.

Who are we?

Samen Actief is a buddy project of Humanitas Twente for people with a migration background and status holders from the age of 18. We are a volunteer organization and are part of Humanitas Twente.

Place of work?

These activities take place in different work areas: Enschede, Oldenzaal, Almelo, Losser, Borne, Hof van Twente & Twenterand.

What do we both?

- Basic training, partly online, partly together with other new volunteers.

- A Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) will be requested for you.

- As a volunteer you are part of a collective insurance for Accidents and WA

- Meeting with your fellow volunteers during informal, educational and pleasant return meetings. In this way, we exchange each other's experiences, discuss relevant themes that you put forward yourself and we also learn from each other!

- Travel costs are reimbursed according to the guidelines of Humanitas.

- The coordinator is always your behind during the contact.

- The year will be closed together festively,

If that is not the case, we support them with a volunteer, so that sooner or later he can continue on his own. At Humanitas Twente there are various activities in which volunteers are deployed. These activities are linked to the themes; parenting, growing up, loneliness, home administration and detention.
