Over Huismanitas Onmont
Humanitas supports people who could temporarily use a helping hand. Within Humanitas Ontmoet Wageningen, we connect residents with one another to reduce social isolation and loneliness. With personal attention, a listening ear, and pleasant gatherings, our volunteers help people experience a greater sense of connection again.
Due to the growing demand for buddies in Wageningen and surrounding municipalities, we are looking for several volunteer coordinators for Humanitas Ontmoet Wageningen.
Over the projection
Anyone can feel lonely, regardless of age, background, or life situation. A buddy can mean a great deal to them. Within Humanitas Ontmoet, volunteers are matched with participants who are in need of social contact. This could involve going for a walk together, having a cup of coffee, having a good conversation, or helping someone reconnect with society.
The support is aimed at strengthening self-reliance, social connection, and expanding the network of participants.
Who wants to see?
As a volunteer coordinator, you are the link between participants, volunteers, and professional coordinators. You enjoy engaging in conversation with people, are a good listener, and are good at assessing situations. In addition, we are looking for someone who:
- Is social and involved;
- Is strong organizationally;
- Can inspire and support people;
- Can work independently, but also enjoys collaborating;
- Has an affinity with themes such as loneliness and meeting others;
- Has knowledge of the social map of Wageningen and the surrounding area, or is willing to learn it.
Experience in a social or societal role is a plus, but we consider motivation and commitment at least as important.
What are you going to do?
Together with the career coordinators, you divide the tasks and support volunteers and participants throughout the process.
Your tasks include, among others:
- Conducting intake interviews with new participants;
- Facilitating introductory and matching interviews;
- Maintaining interim contact with volunteers and participants;
- Conducting evaluation interviews;
- Handling reporting in the registration system;
- Contributing ideas regarding appropriate support and connection in the region.
