Put nature work on the map among young people

The wind in your face, a saw in your hand, the sound of a oystercatcher in the distance while you look out over a piece of nature that you would otherwise not be allowed to visit ... And you also help nature by making room for insects , bees, birds and other animals. Pretty awesome right? Working in nature is really a fantastic activity. Or does it need a new jacket before it is interesting for young people?

That is the ultimate question to which Landschap Noord-Holland would like an answer. But before you can answer that, you first have to try it yourself. So you go into nature at all unique places. Together with other trainees you organize events so that many more young people notice how fun and chill (or active, depends on how you look at it) is nature work. In this way, you can become a true expert in a short time and you can help put Landscape North Holland on the map of young people.

• You will arrive in the most beautiful nature reserves in North Holland. Also in places where you are normally not allowed or not allowed.

In short: your commitment

Choose from the following tasks, or do them all nicely. Just what you find interesting:

• Getting started outside: mowing and draining reed, removing saplings that threaten other plants, protecting meadow birds, helping with youth education activities and more ...
• Organize events to get as many young people as possible to work in nature in original ways and to help them survive bees, insects, birds and plants.
• Having conversations with people, old and young, who work in nature, to investigate why they do it, what is so great about it.
• To devise and set up a promotion / recruitment campaign aimed at young people.
• Provide advice on how we can properly involve young people in the future.

In short: your impact

With this traineeship you contribute to a more beautiful North Holland with a healthy nature, where there is more room for insects, bees, birds and other animals. And your actions are just the beginning. May many others follow you!

When?

Between 1 February and the end of June 2020, you start working on a weekly basis, mainly on Wednesday, occasionally on a different day
