About us:
English Academy for Newcomers (EAN) is a young NGO, based in Utrecht. We are a multicultural team that helps people with the support from the Applied Linguistics team at Utrecht University. We help refugees and asylum seekers find stability in the Netherlands. EAN teaches English to refugees that want to improve their English language skills either to pursue an education in the Netherlands or for other reasons. We are a friendly, international team of people who are focused on creating an environment of continuous learning among our students and teachers.
Note: We are a volunteer organization and all positions are currently unpaid.
Job Summary:
The Data Privacy Officer (DPO) ensures that EAN complies with GDPR regulations. The DPO responds to data export and data delete requests. The DPO works in close coordination with the website designer to ensure that EANs data storage and usage practices comply with GDPR.
Requirements:
- BS or MS in either law or a data relevant field (computer science, business informatics, data science, ..etc)
- Proficient at English
- Familiarity with Wordpress
- Working knowledge of GDPR requirements
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring GDPR compliance
- Sending data breach notifications if required
- Deleting data on request
- Exporting data on request
- Updating users of privacy policy changes
- Ensuring data security
Culture:
We’re looking for candidates who want to take initiative and mark their mark on the organization. EAN is still a new NGO, so whatever the candidate brings to the table can have a lasting impact on the future of the organization.
Commitment:
- After initial GDPR compliance is in place (5 hours per week), work is expected to be very infrequent (5 hours per month).
- DPO can work from home if not in Utrecht
