About DUO for a JOB

DUO for a JOB is a Rotterdam foundation that links young people with a migration background (mentees) to volunteer people over 50 (mentors). Together they work for six months (+/- 2 hours weekly) as a DUO to actively take steps towards a job, internship or training for the young person. With this intergenerational and intercultural mentoring program, DUO for a JOB wants to: 1) reduce inequality in access to the labor market, 2) better appreciate and use the knowledge and experience of people over 50, and 3) bring people into contact who meet each other in their daily lives. life would not encounter so quickly. Thanks to the tailor-made guidance provided by the mentors and the foundation, the mentees gain more self-confidence, become more independent and know better which tools they can use in their search for work or training. As a result, 7 in 10 mentees find a sustainable job, training or internship that suits them. For mentors, DUO for a JOB offers a substantive training program, experience in coaching and an enriching social experience. This is experienced so positively that 8 out of 10 mentors want to continue with a second mentee after six months.
