Pruning, clearing, planting, etc., everything that needs to be done on a (forest) area, in principle on Mondays, once every two weeks.
Every other Monday, the "forest crew" of about ten workers works year-round on the grounds around De Bosbeek. New volunteers are always welcome, especially in winter!
The main goal is to increase the site's biodiversity. To this end, we are planting shrubs and trees that could naturally occur here, such as Guelder rose (Viburnum opulus), hawthorn (Crataegus), spindle tree (Euonymus), hazel (Corylus avellana), hornbeam (Carpinus betulus), lime (Tilia), etc. We cultivate these trees and shrubs ourselves.
To create space (and light), we're removing unwanted exotic species, such as the American bird cherry (Prunus serotina) and American oak (Quercus rubra). We're doing this so carefully that visitors will barely notice.
Naturally, we also perform all kinds of regular maintenance: clearing leaves in the fall, maintaining the plants around the building, removing brambles in unwanted places, mowing, etc.
Travel expenses can be reimbursed, coffee and tea will be provided.

Nivon has 13 nature friends houses in the Netherlands, a number of camping grounds and cottages and organizes overnight stays, trips and activities for and by people with a green and social heart. De Bosbeek is the largest nature house in the Netherlands. The house is located in the middle of the forest and is therefore a good base for beautiful walks and bike rides. It is managed by volunteers. In addition to individual guests or smaller groups (families), groups such as schools, dance groups or large families often stay at De Bosbeek and various activities take place, ranging from writing courses to guided walks.
