About BOUND FOR CHANGE:

BOUND FOR CHANGE was founded by individuals deeply rooted in the countries we serve, giving us a unique understanding of local realities and needs. We work in Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, partnering with communities to drive sustainable change and amplify local voices. Our approach is grounded in collaboration, respect, and innovation. We are committed to building a strong, visible presence that reflects our mission and the communities we serve.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a motivated, creative, and self-driven volunteer to join our digital communications team. This volunteer will help reorganize and improve our website, manage and enhance our social media presence, and support fundraising initiatives by creating visuals and contributing strategic ideas. You will have the opportunity to implement innovative solutions while being supported by our experienced team, who established and maintain the website and digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reorganize and optimize the website to improve usability, flow, and engagement
  • Create, schedule, and manage content for social media channels, particularly Instagram
  • Strengthen existing fundraising initiatives and collaborate with the fundraising team to create visuals and develop creative strategies
  • Develop and implement campaigns to increase visibility, engagement, and outreach
  • Collaborate with the team while following project structures, timelines, and quality standards

  • Comfortable engaging with diverse and international audiences
  • Collaborative, balancing innovation with adherence to team processes
  • Experienced in the nonprofit, development, or digital communications sector is preferred

  • Opportunities to develop and implement real-world strategies for audience engagement and donor communications
  • Experience collaborating with an international NGO team and engaging with global communities
  • Expansion of your professional portfolio with tangible digital media and fundraising projects
  • Mentorship and guidance from an experienced team

Why Join Us:

This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact while developing professional skills. Your contributions will directly shape our online presence, strengthen fundraising efforts, and increase visibility and engagement, all within a supportive and mission-driven environment.

About BOUND FOR CHANGE

Founded on 7 March 2025 and registered in Paris, France, BOUND FOR CHANGE was established by individuals who grew up in underserved communities and personally experienced the barriers of limited books, scarce digital tools, and insufficient educational support. Our lived experience drives every decision, ensuring our programs are practical, community-centered, and transformative.

Our mission is to:

Enhance literacy and numeracy skills among children and youth.

Provide equitable access to learning resources, books, and digital tools.

Support educators through mentorship, training, and volunteer networks.

Build sustainable partnerships with grassroots organizations to empower communities and strengthen independence.

Our focus is on communities in greatest need, including hard-to-reach areas, regions recovering from post-war or internal conflicts, and other vulnerable groups across East Africa.

Key initiatives include:

Distribution of Educational Materials: Supplying schools and children with books, skill-building resources, and educational games.

Sustainable Learning Tools: Creating educational games and materials from recycled resources to promote environmental responsibility.

Library Development and Mobile Reading Units: Establishing libraries, replenishing existing collections, and bringing books to remote communities.

Reading Clubs and Literacy Programs: Cultivating engagement, improving reading skills, and fostering a lifelong love for learning.

Educator Support and Mentorship: Providing guidance, professional development, and volunteer networks to strengthen teaching capacity.

Digital Inclusion: Introducing technology and digital tools to bridge the learning divide.

Community Partnerships: Collaborating with local organizations and leaders to design sustainable, community-driven solutions.

Monitoring and Evaluation: Measuring impact and adapting programs to ensure effectiveness.

In less than a year, we have delivered 883 scholastic materials, 467 storybooks, and digital devices, reaching 710 beneficiaries, including children, youth, and educators across Kenya, Rwanda, and Burundi. Through our work, we empower communities, strengthen grassroots organizations, and equip children with the skills, resources, and confidence to succeed academically and socially.

Our values:

Equity: Every child deserves access to books, learning tools, and quality education regardless of background or circumstance.

Empowerment: Strengthening educators, families, and communities to take ownership of educational solutions.

Lifelong Learning: Encouraging curiosity, confidence, and a love for reading and numeracy.

Sustainability: Creating educational tools from recycled materials while teaching responsible resource use.

Who we serve:

Children and youth in hard-to-reach or underserved communities.

Communities recovering from post-war or internal conflicts.

Vulnerable groups in East Africa.

Educators seeking mentorship, training, and capacity-building support.
