For volunteers who have contact with people with dementia There are volunteers who regularly have to deal with people with dementia. To really get in touch with these people, special skills are sometimes required, and knowledge of the subject can also be useful. To help you work with these residents, Vrijwilligerswerk Atlant invites you to this workshop, in which you will learn how to let people tell a story again by listening carefully to the way it is told. Different fragments of a story are part of the bigger picture, and by participating in this workshop you will gain insight and tools into the way in which that whole story is told. You will learn to:
- The method “Talking to people with dementia”; what is it, how does it work and what can you do with it,
- The importance of stories,
- What emotions can you encounter and how to respond to them,
- To conduct conversations on the basis of equality and respect,
- What are your possibilities and your limits,
- Do you have any questions from the practice?
This workshop is given by Tilly de Kruyf (GV-er and Trainer at Expertise Network Life Questions and Elderly) What does Tilly do? I give training, workshops, intervision and interactive meetings to clients, informal caregivers, volunteers and professionals in the care & welfare sector. All this to give meaning, life questions, participation and dialogue hands and feet for themselves. But also to teach the professional or volunteer to 'understand' clients even better, and to guide them around life themes that really matter to the client or family. I often use an integral approach. Working together on quality of life and work... everyone has a turn to achieve great results together! So come and join the workshop.
