Supervisor of music projects at primary schools and extracurriculars

After the closure of Markant (including a music school) at the end of 2017, the Apeldoorn youth orchestras continued as an independent association through a parent initiative.

We notice that this closure has left essential gaps in the music offering for children and young people, resulting in a lack of a continuous learning path. In particular, browsing through different musical instruments of an orchestra, both at primary schools and outside school, has hardly been picked up by the ''free market'' and has therefore fallen through the cracks.

That is why we are offering an extension ''at the front end of the continuous learning path'' from the 2023-2024 school year.

Structured orientation lesson packages are offered for primary schools (at schools, during school hours), in particular via the Cultuurwijzer.

We also offer an extracurricular instrument sniffing course, where children between 8 and 14 years old try out various musical instruments extensively during 17 weekly lessons (outside school hours, late afternoon or early evening, at Gigant or at other locations).

Everything is done under the guidance of professional music teachers, supported by volunteers. Deployment of these volunteers is flexible, depending on availability and interest. It is an advantage if you play an instrument yourself, but that is not necessary. An affinity with working with children, enthusiasm, and sometimes some patience are desirable.

Volunteers are also needed for organization, instrument transport, administration and recruitment.
