Detailed description
The Kruidenavatuur Wenum is a newly constructed ecological garden with more than forty types of herbs. This experience garden brings people and nature together and offers visitors the opportunity to view, pick, smell, taste and feel herbs. Our mission is to create an inspiring place where people can enjoy nature and everything it has to offer in a sustainable way.
We can use your help in the run-up to the opening on 6 June. In our cosy, green experience garden we will roll up our sleeves together. You will have the opportunity to gain skills and insights in ecological gardening. Your contribution will make an immediate difference: with every completed job the Herb Adventure will flourish more and more.
We are looking for extra help on Saturday May 24th with practical tasks such as:
Gardening work
- Apply a fine path-fastening layer to parking lots and paths
- Spreading wood chips around school gardens and paths
- Making a hedge from willow branches
- Smoothing out the cart track
- Planting herbs, stock hedge and edible flowers
- Watering young plants
Odd jobs
- Cut down a pear tree and place it over the pond
- Installing a totem pole or signpost
- Installing a bicycle rack
- Finishing the container (inside and outside)
- Clearing and sorting of rubble, wood and plastic
- Tidying up the area around the pond
You decide how often and when you are available. All activities take place in Het Kruidenavontuur Wenum , a beautiful ecological herb picking garden in Wenum.
We start the morning with coffee, tea & croissants and in the afternoon lunch is provided!
About Stichting Kruidenavontuur Wenum
The herb adventure Wenum will be a newly created ecological garden with more than forty herb species. The garden brings people and nature together. The experience garden offers the opportunity to view, pick, smell, taste and feel herbs.
The focus of the garden is on fresh herbs. In addition, various (wild) flowers, berries and fruits can be found. Beehives and insect hotels are installed to ensure good biodiversity. For the construction of the path, a piece of agricultural land will be converted into nature in order to improve the soil and biodiversity. In this way we realize a natural oasis for everything that lives, flies and crawls.
The Herbal Adventure Wenum serves both nature and people. In addition to being a place where people come together, the garden also creates a place where education can take place, workshops can be given and chefs can get ingredients from nature. In short, the Herbal Adventure is for everyone: people in the neighbourhood, the disabled, the less fortunate, schools, institutions, companies and restaurants.
