Summary
Provide guidance and support at home in the final phase of lifeDetailed description
As a VPTZ volunteer you are there for people living at home who are in the final phase of life. Your most important task is to “be there” for the person seeking help, but also for relatives or family members (informal carers).
In collaboration with formal care, you offer support to the person seeking help, but you also guide the next of kin or family members during the process. Important points in this support are having attention, time and respect for the norms and values of the person seeking help, but also the loved ones and family members involved.
The basic tasks of a VPTZ volunteer consist of:
- Watch and babysitting services, the half-day, hours and frequency are discussed in consultation.
- Care, think of getting in and out of bed or moving in bed. This can be in conjunction with the informal caregiver or formal care.
- Some household tasks such as making coffee, preparing meals and helping with food and drink.
- Identifying changes in the person seeking help and communicating this to the formal care and family members.
