Summary

Help us clean up Fort Amsterdam! On Saturday, August 16 we will be removing invasive grass to help protect the area.

Detailed description

Fort Amsterdam is the only viable nesting site for our island's national bird, the Caribbean Brown Pelican. As an important ecological site, it is important we preserve and maintain it for critical seabird species. Come join us to remove invasive grass from the area which is damaging the ecosystem and preventing native plants from growing. We will be using pick axes and shovels to dig up native grass.

Volunteers need to bring a reusable water bottle and wear appropriate clothing (sun protection and close toed shoes). Refreshments and snacks will be provided by EPIC. All volunteers also need to complete our volunteer waiver prior to the event. Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
