Summary

We are looking for 4 assistant teachers for 2 Cybersecurity courses we are offering for free to our students!

Detailed description

We are planning to offer two free Cybersecurity courses (beginners and intermediate) to our ReDI School students in the Fall semester, which will be developed and lead by a paid lead teacher, so we will provide for material for this course :)

We are looking for 4 assistant teachers per course to support the lead teachers as assistants in class and in the weekly homework review. Classes are composed of 10-15 students. We usually teach each class in pairs (lead teacher + 1 assistant teacher) and the ReDI Team supports teachers throughout the semester with organisational structure.

Course Offer:

The purpose of the beginners course is that students get a fundamental understanding of the cybersecurity domain and how it is to work as a cybersecurity specialist.

Here is an overview of the beginner's course curriculum:

  • IT and Cyber Security Overview
  • Hackers and Cyber Criminals
  • Cyber Security Attacks
  • Malware
  • Cyber Security Defences
  • Basic Command line (Linux)
  • Cyber Security Tools
  • Introduction to Cloud computing and Cloud security
  • Introduction to Computer Networks
  • Career paths in cyber security

For the intermediate course, here is what we'd like to teach:

  • Cyber Security Attacks
  • Vulnerability Management
  • Cyber Security Defences in depth
  • Linux OS Concepts and commands
  • Windows OS Concepts and commands
  • Cyber Security Tools
  • Incident Detection & Escalation
  • Introduction to Computer Networks
  • Network Security
  • Introduction to Cloud computing (Microsoft AZ 900)
  • Cloud security

Teaching will be a mix of lectures, collaboration and discussion. Real life cases are essential to the course in order for the students to better understand concepts and theory. Students’ learnings will be assessed in class as well as through quizzes and the final project.

Schedule:

Classes are happening on weekdays evening: (7-9pm Berlin, Germany time)

  • Beginners course: Mon + Wed
  • Intermediate course: Tue + Thurs

The courses will run from September 12th until December 17th. The first teachers onboarding meeting is planned for August 18th.

Learners will be based everywhere in Germany, and are very diverse in terms of background and age. Female participation is also very important to us, and we aim to include as many women as possible in our learners community and network.

The ideal volunteer:

Ideally you are an information Security Professional with significant experience and background in cyber security. You have significant expertise in Cyber Security Operations and expert experience in 3 or more of the following areas of Cyber Security: Identity and Access Management, Network and Host Forensics and Investigation, Cloud Security, Security Operations (Red/Blue/Purple Teams), Malware Analysis, Reverse Engineering, and Incident Response.

Previous experience conducting technical training in classrooms or small groups is a good to have.
