Summary

The House of Nijmegen History is looking for a Project Employee Exhibitions! In 2023, topics such as cinemas and the fair are planned.

Detailed description

Do you have a heart for culture and heritage in Nijmegen? Then contribute to our accessible location for encounters and cultural history! The House of Nijmegen History is looking for a volunteer Project Leader for Exhibitions.

In the historic Mariënburg chapel in the heart of Nijmegen, the House of Nijmegen History is a place where everyone is welcome to discover the rich past of the region, tell Nijmegen stories and develop yourself. Our exhibitions and activities are for and by all Nijmegen residents. We play an active and involved role in the heritage field and connect residents, visitors, entrepreneurs and other institutions. For this we not only use the chapel as an exhibition and lecture space, but we also organize activities in the city. For 2023, topics such as cinemas, NXP and the fair are on the program.

What are you going to do?

As a project assistant for exhibitions, you join the Program and Education volunteer team. Together you think about the annual programming and put together project teams to make the exhibitions a success. You can take on a variety of roles within one or more of these project teams, including: (historical) researcher, compiler, copywriter, text or image editor, peripheral programmer and floor manager.

Job Profile

  • You have an affinity with heritage, culture and history
  • You know how to present historical subjects in a creative, contemporary and topical way, with or without partner organisations
  • You have knowledge of putting together exhibitions and associated peripheral activities, or you want to acquire them
  • You have a good command of the Dutch language
  • You are available at least 4 hours a week

What do we have to offer?

You will join a small team of mainly students and starters in which you will be given the opportunity to gain practical experience and develop yourself further in a responsible role. We offer an open, pleasant and educational working environment that is in full development. An environment that not only attaches importance to your contribution to the House of Nijmegen History, but also what you want to get out of it. For example, do you want to work in the cultural sector as a student or as a communication officer? This position offers the opportunity to expand your network in cultural, creative and communicative Nijmegen and to gain professional experience.

Got excited? Then respond immediately! We would like to invite you for an introduction!

About Huis van de Nijmeegse Geschiedenis

The House of Nijmegen History is the starting point for anyone who wants to know more or tell you about the history of the oldest city in the Netherlands.

We tell the story of Nijmegen by highlighting a different part of Nijmegen history, without a permanent collection, in order to be able to tell the story of, for, by and about Nijmegen residents. You are not only welcome to visit our exhibitions and lectures, but also for questions or a chat about personal experiences.
